DESCRIPTION

Phoenix Canariensis is known as the Canary date palm, it is one of the Palm trees most frequently cultivated in the world simply for its great beauty.
It supports good drought, cold, acidic or alkaline soil partial shade, spray, in short, it is a rustic Palm.
Phoenix canariensis wins therefore to be protected in the case of advertised blow, at least by linking the sheaf of leaves in a way tight enough to protect the heart of the plant.
Phoenix canariensis comes, of the Canary Islands. Mild climate, even in France, on the Mediterranean coast and the Atlantic seaboard is his favourite garden.
The stipes are used in the construction. The dried leaves cover the houses. Phoenix canariensis fruits are not edible.
The Phoenix are dioecious palms, there are no male plants and female plants. The inflorescences emerge annually between the leaves. They are short and looks like a broom in males, longest and heavily loaded with fruit in females pollenisées.
The ripe fruits have a brown-orange color and each contain an elongated seed.
Phoenix canariensis produces a single Brown-grey trunk that can reach over 20 meters in height and 60 cm diameter. It is covered with kinds of huge scales (in fact the cut petioles former base) which form a typical pattern of the Phoenix kind. It is a large Palm, that grows fast if it is well watered.
